About

Hi I’m Amy. I graduated from Conestoga College as an RN in Ontario Canada in December of 2003. The day after my pinning ceremony I found out I was pregnant with my first child. The only major goals I had all my life were to become a Mom and a Nurse and they occurred a day apart. I guess it was meant to be.

I work in geriatrics, specifically mental health at the moment. Our unit takes the worst of the worst (to put in laymen terms) dementia patients. They are all aggressive in several ways. Mainly physically and verbally, but we do sexually aggressive patients as well.  I am team lead of the unit and am getting burnt out. I’m currently waiting to hear on a position on the medicine floor. I need a different kind of busy. ~Update. My last day on mental health was June 1 2017. I start on medicine on June 14th as I am off with Mono at the moment but am almost better.

I am also a single Mom as of 2011. My kids were born in 2004 and 2006. Daughter, Son.

I also battle anxiety and depression, chronic migraine headaches and was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 11. I take medications daily for them all. Recently I was prescribed medicinal marijuana for my migraine headaches as none of the migraine medications worked for me. The only thing that worked were narcotics, specifically Hydromorphone (dilaudid). I was concerned about addiction to narcotics so my family physician referred me to the Canadian Cannabis clinic. I will be writing a post about this very soon.

I currently have a wonderful man who I see every other weekend when my kids go to their dads place. Thanks to technology he and I are able to chat somehow, mainly by text every day. Seeing him only every 2 weeks can seem like an eternity but for now it works for us.
